In 2012 we, two couples from northern Germany came looking for a suitable place to spend our holidays. We were most interested in skiing, but also in hiking, climbing and water sports. We found all these things and more in Gosau. In the beginning we just wanted a flat, but we ended up buying a whole house.
Frankly speaking we didn`t know Gosau nor the beautiful Salzkammergut at all in the beginning, we didn`t know what we were missing: The ski area Dachstein West with many originally kept Alpine huts and snack places which have the wonderful and typically traditional Austrian charme that has been lost in so many places with mass tourism. The fantastic ski runs that leave nothing left to desire, And the real pros drive 15 minutes to the Krippenstein area, a most demanding free ride area for the experienced all included in the skiing pass „Dachstein West“.
For cross country skiing fans there are a number of terrific tracks following the long Gosau valley or crossing the forests of the area. And the main track passes along „the Gams“ Guesthouse.
But also in summer the gorgeous Salzkammergut has a lot to offer. 76 lakes, wonderful villages and numerous hiking and biking trails, restaurants and suprising discoveries make sure that you want to come back for more. And once you have spent a vacation day swimming and lazing at the Alt Aussee lake, the Atter lake or the St Wolfgang lake you will ask yourself if it really has to be the seaside every summer…
For us it was only logical to follow our passion for Gosau and the Salzkammergut and restore and upgrade the house we had bought in 2012. Today, you will find a beautiful apartment house with sauna, large natural swimming pond and multi-purpose room waiting for you (and for us).
